Olivia Millerschin wrote her first song before she turned 14. She won a Grand Prize in the 2014 John Lennon Songwriting contest sponsored by Yoko Ono and that same year she made it to the finals of NBC’s America’s Got Talent, where she performed at Radio City Music Hall in New York (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zVWncskO02I).
One Saturday, June 10 at 8 p.m., Acoustic Routes Concerts is bringing her to Saline, where she’ll perform in front on an intimate crowd at Stony Lake Brewing, 447 E. Michigan Ave.
"Look Both Ways," her second full-length album, which was released last year, infuses all of the clever lyrics, haunting melodies and colorful folk, pop and soulful elements she’s noted for. The album’s title reflects Olivia’s quest to “look both ways”– relish in the good and proceed with caution when necessary – in a complex music industry and world.
The song “Long Weekend” (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jqY92Ys52FQ) is an ode to love found and quickly lost and features artist Michael Grubbs, known to his fans as Wakey Wakey, from the hit TV show “One Tree Hill.”
The song “When” (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q_ljY2BN-HE) features Sawyer Fredericks, the 2015 winner of The Voice.
Her version of the 1920’s French song “Parlez-Moi D’Amour” (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AGTwjo5NNO8) is featured on a Republic Records companion album to author Mitch Albom’s book “The Magic Strings of Frankie Presto” alongside musical greats Ingrid Michaelson and Tony Bennett.
Jake Enos is a singer-songwriter from Saline who has performed at The Ark, Grillin' and been a guest on Tree Town Sounds on 107.1 WQKL-FM. He has opened for artists including Grammy-winning guitarist Al Petteway and Luke Winslow-King.
The cover charge is $15 at the door and 100 percent of the proceeds go to the artists.
